unless otherwise noted, gold beads used are gold plated. 

gold plating will eventually oxidize and tarnish over time due to expose to body oils and other natural elements. 

a few tips for keeping your jewelry looking new:

• a soft cloth can be used to gently rub the surface and help keep it clean and polished. do not use a polishing cloth because it will strip away the plating
• remove your jewelry before you swim in chlorine or salt water
• apply lotion, makeup, or perfume before putting on your jewelry
• store your jewelry where it won’t rub against other hard substances, like a soft bag
